What?
What do you want to do?
*
Be specific. If the problem you want to impact is large, focus in on one aspect of it. Think in terms of steps rather than a imposing a whole solution at one time. However, at the same time, the project must be complete. It must have a beginning and end. What you want to accomplish must be realistic. (100 word limit)
Choose a specific category or categories for your project.
*
Construction
Equipment
Material
Training
Other (specify below)
If you choose construction, both equipment and training can remain a part of your project. But the major focus should be the category you choose. If you both distribute seed and provide training, then choose the category that best suites your focus. If it is training, that does not mean you will not need seed for distribution. However, if it is training and you need land to grow the seed, then consider separating the project into two. However, be careful. Each project must be complete. Thus, if you choose equipment in order to purchase an ultrasound machine but have nothing in the project for training, this would be incomplete project unless you have a trained technician already.

What is the problem or challenge you have encountered that has inspired you to put together this project? It is helpful for you to include both the specific problem you have faced as a partner and also the wider issue of the community. For example, the community issue might be a high infant mortality rate. Your clinic most likely would want to have an impact on these rates. Your problem, though, is that you do not have the necessary equipment or training at your clinic to make an impact on infant mortality. So then, the why must include both (1) the community issue and (2) the partner issue.
Why?
We now know what you want to do. Now tell us why you want to do it. What is the problem or challenge you have encountered that has inspired you to put together this project? Who?
After the what and the why, we need to know who will implement the project and who will benefit from the project. The next question is the where, so there is no need to give us a specific place. But tell us who the people are, where do they come from, what kind of conditions they live in, how they spend their time. And who will be managing the project. Do you have staff? How do you involve the community?
Tell us about the target community.

Where?
Where will you be implementing the project. If the training takes place somewhere else, then tell us where. But also tell us where the newly trained staff will be affected. For example, if you are sending people out to receive training on a certain agriculture technique, then tell us what university or school they are going to. Then include, where the benefiting community is located. That is, when the staff are trained, in what community will they serve.

How? (Action Plan
Your action plan should describe how you are planning to accomplish what you want to do. The action plan is separated into two sections. The first is the chronological sequence of events. The second is how you plan to manage that sequence of events. When planning a sequence of events use the technique of stages. Each stage might represent a different amount of time. For instance, the first stage might be a planning stage and only require 2 weeks. The second stage might involve implementation which might be 3 months. The third stage might be an evaluation which might take 1 month. Each stage needs to have an action. The first stage of planning might include a community survey or meetings with the district officals. The second would be the actual training program and the third another community survey. Finally, each stage needs to include a milestone. A milestone is what you hope to accomplish in that particular stage.
Each stage will also need to be managed. How will you make sure that the job you want to get done in any of the stages will actually get done. Describe to us how you will assure that you will accomplish the milestone of each stage.
